Humshakals Theatrical Promo To Unveil On Wednesday

The wait is going to be over very soon. After the unveiling of its digital motion poster a few weeks back during India-Pakistan T-20 match, ‘Humshakals‘ promotion would now be entering its second leg. Theatrical promo of the Sajid Khan directed comedy would be launched online across all channels this Wednesday.

“The motion poster was just a teaser of sorts and now with the film nine weeks away, there would be enhanced momentum in the film’s promotion starting with the theatrical trailer,” confirms our source.

Those who have had a dekko already are vouching for it to be just the kind of Summer blockbuster that one is expecting.

“It is a fast paced promo with something happening practically every moment,” reveals an insider, “It is rip roaring, colorful and vibrant. The very USP of seeing Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor is well projected here. Moreover, for those looking for glamour quotient, Tamannaah Bhatia, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta make for an enticing appearance too. Just wait and watch.”

 

Apparently, Sajid went through the most minute details for days at succession to get every frame right and went through multiple options before green lighting the promo which is now ready to be released.

“I had to,” says Sajid, “My promise to the audience is ’9 Times The Fun’ and for that I had to work at least 9 times harder on the promo.”

No wonder, producers Fox and Vashu Bhagnani are vouching for the promo that has been cut and are anticipating record views for it in quick time before the film readies for its 20th June release.

Kangana Ranaut & Irrfan Khan In Sai Kabir’s Next ‘Divine Lovers’

Kangana Ranaut is on a career high. After a massive hit like Queen, the actress was back with another ‘Revolver Rani‘. Impressed with her performance in Revolver Rani, the film’s director Sai Kabir has decided to cast this ‘Queen‘ again.

According to a popular daily, the director has cast the talented Irrfan Khan opposite Kangana Ranaut for his next titled ‘Divine Lovers‘. The film will be minus all the action and feisty pulp drama of Revolver Rani. The story will revolve around the moral corruption in the middle-class section of society. This is the first time Kanagana will star opposite Irrfan Khan.

A sequel to Revolver Rani may also be on the cards. The director confirmed to the same daily of aspiring to make Revolver Rani a franchise film.

Kaanchi Has A Dismal 1st Monday At the Box Office

Kaanchi had less reasons to smile on Monday as it experienced a considerable drop. The film raked in 45 lakhs on its first Monday. With this, the film now stands with a collection of 3.45 crores at the domestic box office.

Kaanchi starring newbie Mishti and Krtik Tiwari in the lead roles kept up its low spirit after having a poor weekend. The film failed to be crowd puller considering the film had nothing new to offer. The film’s music was a downer and low critics ratings paved way for the film to perform dull at the box office.

 Kaanchi has been showing a downward trend so far. The film may collect some more moolah in the week but the first week collections may be restricted to 5 crores.

Revolver Rani Performs Below Par On 1st Monday At The Box Office

Revolver Rani had extremely low collections on its 4th Day i.e. 1st Monday at the Domestic Box Office. The film managed to rake in mere 90 Lakhs yesterday, which is a huge drop since the opening day. This Kangana Ranaut starrer now stands with a collection of 6.90 crores at the domestic box office.

No doubt, the film failed to impress the audiences. Unlike Queen which picked up after having a slow start, Revolver Rani seems to be on a downward trend. Even though the film had decent critics ratings, the film could not create a positive word of mouth.

With a screen count of 1500, Revolver Rani had no takers in multiplexes or single screens. The film is not expected to create any profit for the makers. The first week business for this film can be estimated at around 8-9 crores.

Post 2nd Monday, 2 States Makes 124% Profit At The Box Office

2 States on its 2nd Monday fared remarkably well at the box office making a steady income of 2.35 crores at the domestic box office. The film has so far pooled in a total of 78.35 crores at the box office.

A fresh script boasting of the great chemistry between its lead stars Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor, the film ranks as the second highest grosser of 2014 after Jai Ho surpassing Gunday which wrapped up its lifetime earn at 76.55 crores.

 

Made on a modest budget of 35 crores, the film has so far raked up a profit of 43.35 crores. The film’s profit rate right now rests at 124%.

Akshay Trains In Russian Knife Fighting Tolpar With Mumbai Police

Mumbai Police brought in Russian experts to train their women staff in Tolpar, which is a form of fine martial arts that indulges in knife fighting. The training in Tolpar requires one to be nimble and intelligent more than being physically overpowering. It was quite a surprise that the police folk was joined by Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar  , who too trained himself in Tolpar along with the women police.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s long respite from Bollywood didn’t quite help his fans. But the National Award winning filmmaker is all set to make a comeback in his conspicuously gritty avatar. The director is gearing up to helm Madamji, which is the journey of an item girl, who eventually has a brush of luck with politics.

After much consideration, the role was finally offered to Priyanka Chopra with whom Bhandarkar shares a great work relation since Fashion days. Though Chopra is primarily playing a politician in the film, the early days of her career will see her in an item girl avatar.

Vidya Balan Starrer Bobby Jasoos’ Release Date Preponed

The Vidya Balan starrer Bobby Jasoos is an upcoming detective drama. Produced by actress Dia Mirza and her beau Sahil Sangha, the film is set to hit the theaters this year. The film directed by Samar Shaikh was earlier slated to release in August.

However, now the film’s release has been preponed and will be releasing on July 4th, 2014. This Vidya Balan starrer will now be clashing with Deepika Padukone’s Finding Fanny which is also set to release on the same date.

Producers, Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha have put together a strong supporting cast that surround Vidya Balan in a pulsating, thrilling and most importantly heartwarming tale of a woman who’s solitary dream is to become the numero uno private eye of her community. Post 2nd Weekend, Alia’s 2 States Beats Her Debut SOTY’s Lifetime Collections

2 States is certainly proving to be one of 2014′s Biggest successful venture. The film starring Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor has got rave reviews and was received very well by the audiences. After completing its 2nd weekend run, the film now stands with a collection of 76 crores at the domestic box office.

Interestingly, the collections of 2 States have now crossed the lifetime collections of Alia Bhatt’s debut film Student Of The Year, which had made a total nett India business of 70 crores. With this, 2 States is now the third Highest Grosser of 2014. It has beaten the collection of Kangana Ranaut’s Queen which until now stood strong at the 3rd position.

The film has been performing extremely well over the week and is expected to keep up this trend. Considering that the film will be adding more moolah over the week, 2 States will soon be beating Arjun Kapoor’s Gunday collections. Gunday is currently the second highest grosser of 2014 with a collection of 76.55 crores.

Revolver Rani, Kaanchi And Samrat & Co. Gave A Poor 1st Weekend To Bollywood

It was a very poor weekend at the box office for Bollywood with none of the new releases managing to make much of an impact. It had been highlighted in this column last week that a) none of the three films had managed to hit the roof when it came to hype, b) fight would be between Kaanchi and Revolver Rani when it comes to screen space/show timings and c) Samrat & Co. would struggle due to low key promotion. Sadly, everything went as per the script and that reflected in poor box office collections for each of the three new films.

Revolver Rani had best of the starts, and that too strictly on a comparative note, as it fetched around 6 crore at the box office. Now this is much lower than what Kangana Ranaut’s last release Queen (9.55 crores) had managed just a few weeks back. The film wasn’t panned by the critics or the audience but then no one praised it to the skies either. With a niche appeal to it (the film is in Gangs of Wasseypur space), the film saw a wide release but not the kind of footfalls that were expected. The word of mouth is okay and one waits to see how the week goes. However, early indications don’t promise a long haul.

As for Kaanchi, the indications are quite clear that the film is a disaster at the box office. The collections were very poor from the opening show itself and there was not much escalation during the weekend either, hence resulting in mere 3 crore odd coming in. The film has been given thumbs down by most critics while audience footfall has been abysmal enough to warrant any positive word of mouth. This is disheartening indeed for a film coming from Subhash Ghai, who in the past had redefined equations at Bollywood box office.

Samrat & Co. found some decent to good reviews coming its way but was totally letdown by uninspired promotion and poor release with hardly any show timings for itself. There wasn’t much awareness for the film either, as a result of which the weekend collections stayed around the 1 crore mark. With a start like this, the film can’t be expected to go anywhere.
